Stars falling over the Washington coast

when I was in my hammock waiting for the milky way to rise some kids came up to me asking for a cigarette, which I didn’t have but we got to talking and they were on a 6 week wilderness therapy retreat because they got into a lot of trouble back on the east coast. it was cool sharing my story with them and how receptive they were to hearing about a completely different lifestyle than what they’ve known. we chilled for hours while I took some time lapse photos on the side of this cliff with ocean crashing below us and the stars like crazy all around us. we saw so many shooting stars. they were starving, apparently they aren’t being fed well and were eating snakes and moles and rats that they would catch because they were so hungry. I gave them a big bag of this super dank trailmix, and let them use my phone to call their dad and girlfriend. i know it wasn’t much but it was so good to be able to help them out, and I’m so grateful the universe dropped that opportunity into my lap. I always get caught up thinking I am always being given so much in my life and feeling like I don’t ever have anything to give other people. it was a such a blessing to also be reminded how deeply it helps myself when I help other people.
