Orcas Festival

The past few years I’ve been considering that maybe I prefer hiking by myself more than going to music festivals. However a few days ago I was able to experience both in the same weekend, leaving the festival at 2 am to go night hiking to the top of the tallest mountain in the San Juan islands. I even found a new trail back down that I’ve never taken before, so lush and beautiful with many different views of the surrounding islands. Plus I went swimming at the end of the hike, and felt like I would never feel warm again in my whole life. then I went back to the festival. what I learned about myself, among many other things, is that going to a festival and finding time to hike are better when they are combined than by themselves. also, the water in the lakes on orcas island is really, really cold in April
